Where to begin renovating?

Starting a renovation can seem nerve-racking but it's really not as hard as it first seems! In fact, thousands of everyday Australians are renovating their home as we speak. Now more than ever we can appreciate the importance of having a home that serves our needs and is able to comfortably house us and our families.

If you are still apprehensive about jumping into a bathroom renovation project, it is worth knowing that a bathroom renovation can add value to your home, so you will not only be improving your quality of life but you will also be making a great investment to the value of your home. To find out more about how to best maximise your renovation return on investment, read our guide on adding value to your home.

Bathroom is one of the most important rooms in anyone’s houses as it is frequently used and is an integral part of the home. As your house ages, there are many reasons to renovate your bathroom such as the design and the furniture might become outdated, damaged, or no longer functional for modern day living. You might want to have a renovation project to give your bathroom a facelift and fix any safety concerns. On top of that, renovation allows you to optimise ergonomics for your bathroom to increase your satisfaction with the new space. A comfortable space can help you feel relaxed, calm, and uplifted to engage in self-care more often, which plays an important role in improving your mental health and quality of life.

Before starting your bathroom renovation project, you could be wondering what is the best bathroom layout? as you want to choose the best one for your bathroom. There are plenty of bathroom layouts that can be deemed perfect, however they may not be suitable for your needs and actual bathroom space. The best layout is designed to serve your needs and satisfy your aesthetic preferences based on the size, shape and limitations of the room.

When a large project seems overwhelming the best strategy is to tackle one task at a time, so why not start on something simple like measuring your bathroom? After you have created some rough dimensions, you will already start feeling prepared, productive and empowered to start your renovation journey. Next, you can learn the key steps required to plan your bathroom renovation to ensure your project runs smoothly and efficiently according to the timeframe and budget you have set. Now you can drill down (pardon the pun) and assess what you can do yourself (DIY) and which tasks you will need to hire a professional for. Small projects such as installing a bathroom vanity unit are perfect DIY projects for you to start with.

More useful resources for your renovation or new build

At Fontaine, we want to make your renovation, extension or new build as easy and stress-free as possible.  Below is a list of resources you, your plumber and electrician may find useful for your bathroom, kitchen and laundry installation. Over time we aim to populate this list to help you out as much as possible.

When installing products and appliances that require handling plumbing and/or electricity (such as bathroom vanitiesbasinstapstoiletsovensdishwashersrangehoods etc) we highly recommend that you invest in hiring licensed tradespeople. Doing so guarantees your safety as well as peace of mind that the job has been completed by professional Australian standards. If your products are installed by a person who is not licensed, you will void your product warranty, and also may void any future home or building insurance cover or claim in the event of any damage incurred by an illegally installed product.

If you have any questions in regards to installing our products and appliances, feel free to contact the Fontaine Customer Support Team on: 1300 884 081 (Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm) or email support@fontaineind.com.au and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
